FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What do you print on?

We print on Enhanced Matte Paper 200gsm by default which is ideal for exhibit since it doesn’t create any reflection and it also means no fingerprints. While matte tends to play up texture, the image may look a bit grainy because of the enhanced texture.

We also print on semi-gloss paper at the customer’s request which is in between matte and glossy in both shine and texture. It is moderately textured and has some shine to it. It does not show fingerprints or smudges as easily as glossy.

What else can you print on?

Alternatively you can order your print on canvas. Photos framed behind glass can look stunning when displayed in the right space, but in rooms with a lot of light canvases can be the perfect medium to be displayed as they have a satin-matte finish.

What are the framing options?

Prints are hand-framed in Sydney. We use laminated pine for the black and white options, while the natural timber is Tasmanian oak. Our standard profile size is 2 cm wide by 4 cm deep, although for large prints we use wider frames.

Canvas prints can be just stretched on solid pine frames ready to hang, or you can also add a floating frame option in black, white, or Tasmanian oak.

What is a shadow box frame?

Box frames are a type of display that has a fixed space between the glass and the artwork to create a sense of depth.

What is a floating frame?

A floating frame creates the illusion of artwork floating within the frame by leaving a gap between the frame and the artwork. This adds depth and dimension to the display.

Do you use glass or acrylic?

We normally frame our prints with a 2 mm clear glass, although we may use perspex instead for large framed pieces being shipped outside of Sydney for safety reasons.

Do you use non-reflective glass?

Yes, we do. Non-reflective or anti-glare glass contains a clear film designed to diffuse reflection. Please contact us to get a quote.

Do you use UV glass?

Yes, we do. Clear Conservation UV glass is used to protect art and objects of importance from fading when framed. The UV glass we use cuts out 70% of ultraviolet light, protecting your artwork from fading through light damage. Please contact us to get a quote.

Does choosing a white border make a print larger?

No, when choosing a white border the print size remains the same, but the printable image will be reduced.

What is a foam board?

It is a strong, lightweight, and acid-free material that serves as the backing board in a frame.

How long does printing and framing take?

Prints are processed to order so please allow 1 to 3 days and 1 to 2 weeks for framed pieces.

How do you ship prints and frames?
